Bathe in a bear spa, you say? Or, maybe you want a day that lasts 2 months.

Scroll down for a full list of 9 destinations. There are a bunch of “only time” destinations in this edition so I didn’t have space for more than one of each of the others. Forwarded this email? Sign up here

The Polar Day Hammerfest, Norway

ONLY TIME

May 17 to Jul 29

Over 2 months pass each year where Hammerfest has continuous sunlight. 24 hours every day. No sunsets. No sunrises. It is not uncommon for daytime activities to be done even at the strike of midnight, so pour yourself a cup of coffee, and start your day whenever you'd like. Stay away from here if you’re a night owl, but stay tuned because for another couple months, later in the year, constant day becomes constant night.

Bathe in a Beer Spa Prague, Czech Republic

ACTIVITY JUNKIES

Apr to Jun

I was slightly disappointed when I read that there is a bubbling hot tub of water (not beer), but then the experience redeemed itself: You are encouraged to drink as much beer as you possibly can from your own tap for an hour and there is a heated straw bed in your private room. Now that's a spa I could become a regular at. This is also just a nice time to be in Prague with the weather and lack of peak tourism crowds.

Sydney Australia

CHEAPEST TIME

May 01 to Aug 31

The Opera House, the Sydney Harbor Bridge, the museums... They don't shut down in the winter. In June, the start of winter, you can see everything you want to see while getting much better deals if you're OK wearing a light jacket. It might be the winter, but it still doesn't often get below 50F (10C).

Great Wall of China

BEST TIME

Apr 01 to Jun 30

One of the most spectacular feats of human history, on nearly every traveler's bucket list, a 13,000mi (21,000km) wall built over a span of 2000 years; the Great Wall of China "can be seen from space" (this isn't true, but, I did read on Wiki that the naked eye can see some highways, dams, and cities). This time of year is great for flourishing greenery and avoiding the overcrowded tourism peaks.

*The Polar Day Hammerfest, Norway - May 17 to Jul 29 - Highlighted above - Guide

New Orleans Wine & Food Experience Louisiana, USA - Jun 05 to Jun 09 - I decided that this quote that I found in this blog/guide sums this up perfectly: The late Anthony Bourdain once said, “There is no place like New Orleans. So it's a must-see city because there's no explaining it, no describing it. You can't compare it to anything." - Blog

ILA Berlin Air Show Berlin, Germany - Jun 08 to Jun 09 - From futuristic fighter jets to massive cargo planes, you can see just about everything at this air show, including aerobatics of course. Saturday and Sunday are the days for the public. - Guide

Isle of Man TT UK - Jun 01 to Jun 08 - This event embodies the extreme risks that some humans on this planet seem unphased by. The motorcyclists ride at an AVERAGE speed of ~130mph for ~50 minutes on public roads around the island... Some regard this as the most dangerous sporting event in the world. There were 6 fatalities in 2022, tied for the most fatal year in it's history. - Guide

Parklife Festival Manchester, UK - Jun 08 to Jun 09 - This dance & electronic music festival in Manchester brings around 70,000 attendants for 150 pounds per ticket ($190 USD). Headliners: Doja Cat, Disclosure, J Hus, Becky Hill, Fisher, Chris Lake & more. - Official Website
