Upcoming Events
Venice Biennale - Venice, Italy May 11 to Nov 24 Opened on April 20th, the art show dubbed "The Olympics for art" sounds like a really cool show. There are country pavilions where each nation has a chance to win prizes. 25 Euros for the admission. Runs for a long time though so no rush getting there. |
In Season
Amsterdam - Netherlands Apr 01 to May 31 Amsterdam is an incredibly cool city which, to me, feels like it has been built up for tourism over the past decades. If the floods of tourists is something you want to avoid, try going before June, when the peak tourism season starts. | Budapest - Hungary Apr 01 to Jun 30 A gorgeous bridge connects the hilly Buda with the flat Pest neighborhood. I would recommend finding a free walking tour whenever you first arrive in a European city, maybe paired with a food tour? Home to Harry Houdini and Rubik, the inventor of that colorful cube. Peak tourism season starts in May and peaks a little later, so beat the crowds. Or don't. It doesn't effect me. |
Florence - Italy Apr 01 to Jun 30 Home to some of the world's most well known art pieces like 'David', Florence is a popular destination for a reason. The iconic cathedral dome, Duomo di Firenze, took 140 years to build. This city is also a great place for luxury shoppers if you have enough digits in your bank account. | Bratislava - Slovakia Apr 01 to Jun 30 Surrounded by vineyards and mountains, Bratislava is a great place for a nature lover who still loves a society. The capital of Slovakia has a ton of hiking and biking trails, and a pedestrian-only old city full of bars and shops for us all. |
The Iguazu Falls - Argentina & Brazil Apr 01 to May 31 Spanning across Argentina and Brazil, these waterfalls have a super unique two step visual running right through the jungle. 'Iguazu' means 'big water' which reflects the 1.7 mi (2.7 km) width of the falls. Visiting from the Argentinian side is recommended. Get there before June, when the flow starts to weaken. |
Activity Junkies
Mountain Biking - Moab, USA Apr 01 to Jun 30 Moab, known as one of the best mountain biking hubs in the world, has a vast array of trails for everyone from beginner to advanced (rated green circle to double black diamond, sound familiar?). The spring is perfect for sunny yet bearable days on the trail. | Rock Climbing - Kalymnos, Greece Apr 01 to Jun 30 Over 3400 routes and a wide range of difficulties apparently make Kalymnos one of the world's best sport climbing location. Half the routes are rated for beginners, so if you've been in the gym but want to explore the outdoors, this may be your starting line. Weather is good year-round, but April-June is the sweet spot. |
Sandboarding - The Sahara Desert Oct 01 to Apr 30 Do I have to explain this one? Listen, I did this but I made the mistake of doing on a small dune and getting bored quickly. It's worth climbing a big one and having more than a minute of riding. Check out this story below, it's a cool one (not mine). | Tornado Chasing - USA Apr 01 to Jun 30 When I found out that people do this as a vacation I knew I needed to add it on here. In my opinion it's for crazy people with deep pockets but maybe one of you will see this and learn that it's perfect for you. There isn't a very long season for this and it's all based out of Oklahoma city. Apparently late May is the best chance you'll get to see some dark clouds and spinny air. |
My name is Logan Gross and I am an experienced traveler/backpacker, self proclaimed activity junky, and a lover of all kinds of new experiences, especially when they involve a plane flight. I hope to inspire some of your future trips with this newsletter. I have a huge spreadsheet with 400+ (and growing) destinations that I curate each week for this email based on the best date to travel there. It’s a lot of work and I could use your support. The best way to support this project is by sharing it with others and giving me feedback :)
I don’t have any affiliations or sponsorships, so the only influence on the writing and the choice of destinations is me.
