Patagonia Chile/Argentina

CHEAPEST TIME

Apr 01 to Sep 30

Patagonia is a bucket list item for many but the cost may hold you back. Maybe rethink your trip and embrace the colder months to save some cold hard cash. Some say that there is a charm to the winter in Patagonia if you can bear the frigid wind. Maybe you wanna put some snow shoes on and trek through the national park? Just make sure to prep and be aware that some accommodations even shut down in the winter times... At least you’ll have a lot of space to yourself.

Grand Canyon National Park USA

BEST TIME

May 01 to Jun 30

Fun Facts: 1) The park is bigger than the entire state of Rhode Island. 2) The most remote community of people (population: 208) in the lower 48 states is in the Grand Canyon National Park and is not accessible by roads. This is the only place that the USPS will deliver mail by mule. Although mid-summer is the most popular time to visit, the best time to visit is late spring because the weather permits much nicer hiking.

Artisan Bread Baking Class Paris, France

ACTIVITY JUNKIES

All-year long

Freshly baked bread in your own home. How great would that be? Be the master of your own culinary destiny and learn how to bake baguettes straight from the source: Parisian bakers. If you're serious about learning something that you'll use for the rest of your day, sign up for a 2-day class. If you're like me and just interested for fun, there are much more affordable short classes.

North by Northeast Toronto, Canada - Jun 12 to Jun 16 - A music festival focused on emerging talents that has seen the like of Lizzo, Daniel Caesar, Run the Jewels, The Lumineers, Grimes, Gary Clark Jr. and more. It is held in 20+ different live music venues across the city of Toronto. For $32 after fees for entry into all of the participating clubs over the 5 days... This is quite a good deal. - Official Website

Download Festival Donington Park, UK - Jun 14 to Jun 16 - A rock festival headlined by Fallout Boy, Avenged Sevenfold, and Queens of the Stone Age. 100,000+ attendance. Couldn't find any fun facts or anything about this. They broke the record last year for selling the most merch at any UK festival (I couldn't verify this elsewhere but it's written in this article). - Official Website

Dia de los Locos San Miguel de Allende, Mexico - Jun 16 to Jun 16 - This is a google translate of the Spanish Wiki page and I just think it is too good to not use: "All day long you can see different groups of crazy people who will leave from this point towards the Central Garden, along the way they will display all their madness, their joy and magic while they perform dances" - Blog

Best Time

This time of year offers the best that this destination has to offer.

*Grand Canyon National Park USA - May 01 to Jun 30 - Highlighted above - Official Website

Kuala Lumpur Malaysia - May 01 to Jul 31 - I planned 3 days but ended up staying 2 weeks in Kuala Lumpur because of it's unique combination of modern comforts & city amenities with prices rivaling the cheapest in all of my travels. It's got futuristic skyscrapers and wonderful street markets that remind you that you're in South East Asia. I would give it a 10/10 for Digital Nomads or Expats looking for value comfort. - Blog

Bali Indonesia - Apr 01 to Sep 30 - I love Bali. It is heaven for tourists. Very affordable, very comfortable and very fun. You can get a beach vibe in one town, and see some of the most gorgeous rice paddies in another. I tripled my planned stay in Ubud and was sad when I had to leave for my next stop. Nusa Penida is a great little stop for a few days that is gaining in popularity recently. I highly recommend Bali to all younger travelers (<40yo). Although I must warn you about Bali Belly... It is real. I can personally attest to that. - Guide

Auckland New Zealand - May 01 to Sep 30 - Always wanted to go to New Zealand but couldn't fork up the cash? If the plane flight isn’t too cost prohibitive, you may be able to go in winter. Everything is more affordable but it comes with a price in the form of the cold. However, if you are a skier, that news may be good. Auckland is surrounded with volcanoes (42 of them) and the cities oldest park is based around an extinct volcano. The guide I found is specific to winter travel in NZ. - Guide
