Worldwide Events April 7th - 20th

Cherry Blossom Season - Japan

March 20 to April 15

This is the busiest time for Japan's tourism for a reason. Over one million Sakura trees sprinkled around the country bring a few months of wonderous colors every year.

Songkran - Thailand

April 13 to April 15

Thailand's new year, celebrated across the country with a huge water fight. I happened to be in Thailand last year during Songkran and it was incredibly fun. This is not a long activity, it's just a fun time to be there.

Boston Marathon - MA, USA

April 15

About half a million people come to see the Boston marathon, as it is the world's oldest marathon, and one of the best known road racing events. That's just the spectators... There's also 30,000 runners each year!

Semana Santa - Seville, Spain

April 2 to April 9

From Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, the country of Spain is filled with celebrations. Floats and music fills the streets. Flamenco is a main character in this holiday story.

Eid Al-Fitr - Marrakech, Morocco

April 10 to April 11

Right after the holy month of Ramadan, Eid Al-Fitr is the festival of the breaking of the fast. The streets are decorated with colorful lights and traditional decorations.

Masters Golf Tournament - Georgia, USA

April 8 to April 14

The tickets (called "badges") are very hard to come by, even for the practice day. If you can get your hands on some of them, try to get in early, get a front row spot, and plop down a chair to mark your claim to your new home for the day.

Coachella - CA, USA

April 15 to April 24

Coachella is a music & arts festival which includes various genres including rock, pop, indie, hip hop, and EDM. Coachella is famous for its art installations, making this a favorite for many Instagram hobbyists.

Popular Destinations

Lisbon - Portugal

March to May

Lisbon has an unbelievable panoramic flat cityscape. You'll spend so much time looking at, from all conceivable angles, it'll burn an image into your cornea. April brings pleasant temperatures and vibrant landscapes.

The Pyramids of Giza - Egypt

October to April

A trip to Egypt should be on everyone's travel bucket list. You should plan to travel down the Nile to check out all the multi-millennium old monuments including the pyramids, the valley of the kings and many many more. Going in April allows for cooler days and less overcrowding than their peak (Dec-Jan).

Off-the-beaten-path

Uyuni Salt Flats - Bolivia

December to Mid-April

The world's largest (4000+ square miles) salt flats provide a surreal visual experience that will leave you stunned. This time of year is the wet season, creating a mirror effect on the surface of all that salt.

Ha Giang Loop - Vietnam

April to Mid-May

The Ha Giang loop is by far the best $170 I have ever spent. Four days on a motorcycle driving through the real countryside of Vietnam. This time of year avoids the rainy season, the burning season, and it’s a great time to see the green rice paddy fields.

Activity Junkies

Raja Amput - Indonesia

October to April

Hundreds of islands in Indonesia that are home to some of the world's best scuba-diving locations with many wonderful sea creatures. This is a top pick for scuba hobbyists, especially in this time of year when manta rays chill at the cleaning stations.

Mount Everest - Nepal

March to May

I'm not recommending you take the trek to the top unless you can... but I would recommend, off the back of friends' stories, that you should trek around the region. This time of year has reasonable temperatures, clear skies, little-to-no rain, and less chance of problematic snowfall.

Miscellaneous Adventures

Sahara Desert Trek - North Africa

March to May

The Sahara desert is a breath taking vastness of yellow/orange dust. Ride a sand board, ride a camel, watch as twice a day (If you can wake up early enough) the sky turns the same color as the ground beneath your feet. Spring time has reasonable weather (mid 70’s) and some plant growth (Yes, even in the desert).

Ice Hotel - Sweden

December to April

You've probably all seen the photos on Instagram. It looks so damn cool, go freeze your butt off in the Scandinavian heaven. Maybe catch some colorful sky waves (northern lights) while you're up there, which is why you’d want to go around this time. April is the back end of the peak season.
